I took my horse to a local charity cross country on Sunday and did the 2 foot class. He has never done a cross country before, and only had one schooling session, so was unsure what to expect, hence the 2 foot class!
The course was lovely and inviting, nothing serious at all. The only thing was an open ditch, and all we had to do at the water was trot through and up a tiny step.
Anyway, he warmed up very well, then went into dobbin mode!! Last thing I needed when I thought he would struggle to get round as it was!!
However, when I rode up to the start he certainly livened up - didnt think I was even getting over the first jump though as he was looking at everything - he was goggling more at the jump judges and cars, and spectators though.
Jumped the first about 3 feet higher than he needed to - carried on in much the same fashion, however, he was excellent and listened to me all the time, I needed to kick him on to most jumps as he was very green and looky.
Sailed over the ditch and finished with a clear round - was too fast though so no place. However, I was very pleased with him and he did everything he was asked.
Here are links (hopefully) to a couple of the pro pics, he did his worst jump over this jump typically, and I look a bit disarranged!!!
