but then again I am a sucker for a big chestnut horse. Don't know much about confirmation I'm afraid, but if he passes the vet, with a lot of tlc and good shoeing I think he'd do very nicely indeed. I'm glad you can imagine what he will look like when filled out and muscled up, that's one horse in desperate need of some tlc. good luck

hes 5, was turned away at 2 to finish growing, he has a white sploge on this nearside leg is definatly a marking rather than scarring

would definatly have him vetted if i was to have him, and possible xrays of those front feet

Ye I saw the white mark at the back of the knee (almost). No I'm talking about on the outside and to the front of the cannon bone.....maybe it's my eyes LOL!! But it looks like a tendon injury.

. I think it must just have been the different colours of chestnut around that leg....looked odd in the further away picture.

I'd still have him vetted (this from a non-vetter LOL!) because he looks such a nice sort. Good luck with him.

I like him - super attitude on the lunging! Very creditable that he has good balance on the lunge in canter and is able to go over that pole, shows that he should not have any serious back problems. (as so many x racers have kissing spine which nearly always mean that they cannot canter on the lunge or hold balance in canter)

I think that he will look great with some condition and muscle.

Just ring his trainer to check that all the stories are true... what was his racing name?

He is lovely, and I think pasturns will improve with shoeing after loooking at the blown up piccie, Think he is just a bit flat but will be improved with slightly more heel support and upright shoeing.

thanks katb that was what i had origionally thought, my other tb has very flat front feet and just been out to look at his feet and think they are much worse than this little guy so will maybe have a chat with my farrier too and see what he thinks

TBH, I would be wary. She would know that, without knowing the dam, you cant find anything out.

thanks for that, spoke to her earlier she said she had looked up his sire and you could find out his dam from there by looking at 5yr chestnut colt, seeing my vet on tuesday so going to show her the photos, will then ring her back and get dams name out of her before i go any further

On the RP you can only find horses that have been through the sales, or have raced. If he hasnt been through the sales there would be no record of him. Sh esounds an odd one.

very odd, what would you suggest? as not got much experience with racers, like the horse and hopefully vet will be happy about the front legs, just dont want another disaster

There is no point in worrying, could all be above board. Id just ring her and ask for the dams name so you can check her history. If she outright refuses you know that something is up.

He does look a real sweetie, they eyes are kind. Not too sure on the back legs though, my eye seems drawn to them for the wrong reasons.

But I love chesnuts!! Every horse I have had before Beau has been chestnut - and a mare(except 1)! They were all perfect

I went to see a nice little mare there before christmas - not quite right for us - I agree the lady and her son seem nice and genuine and the horses all seem pretty much as described and not over priced - good luck.
