I am looking for something 15.2ish above 6 mainly hacking needs to be bombproof & looks not an issue but not a heavy cob :)
I have £2000 to spend
Could u reccommend me a good dealer??

Judi Thurloe based near Thirsk is very good. If you google her name she has a website.

I agree with this although some people on here won't. However, that's the way it goes with dealers. What I'd say about Judi is she's been around for years and overall has a good reputation and shows and competes her horses at a decent level. I guess what I am saying is you need to make up your own mind and remember they are a business so they want to sell horses and I imagine they do see a fair few 'joyriders' and novices who overestimate their abilities. It does not mean the dealer is at fault!

We have had two horses off Judi, one was fab, the other was not really suitable - although we had him for several years - but that was really our fault at the time as we were not that experienced (this was over 20 years ago!).

Judi thurloe definitely worth a try. We are a riding school /livery yard who have had many dealings with her in the past. We must have bought more than 30 horses from her over the years, ranging from plods to show jumpers and all have been great. The only ones we have ever sent back are the ones that didn't take to school life, but there was nothing wrong with them.
Would definitely recommend her.

sjhorsesandponies.com sam jimmison is brilliant, she has a few tbs she competed hacked etc. Not sure if there are any left as shes moving to warmbloods. I bought my kwpn from her about 6 years ago and still have her and she still comes and gives us lessons :)

I brought my boy off Judi around 3 years ago. Definitely worth going, but please ensure that you are honest about your abilities, and that you take someone experienced with you too, if only for a second opinion. I had a few teething problems with my boy (he was young and green and I've never had to deal with that before) but he's awesome now. Best of luck with your search :D

This could be written by me, i got my boy from judie 3 years ago next month. She was very helpful with my teething problems and of course there was the 3 months warrenty. P.W.H. who did you buy, mine was a 5 year old 15h coloured cob called Sebastian.

Hi Sue12345, I brought a 16hh rising 6 dark bay Irish Sports Horse called Jenson. Hes a sensitive boy, but wouldnt change him for the world now. It's 3 years next month for me too. :)

Quite suprised by these replies ...but wont say why!
Would +1 for stubley hollow and try katie stephens- [on wolds nr Scarborough] .
Howevr, youre not going to get much from a good dealer for £2000- double your budget for something decent!

CW Equestrian in York (used to be Abbey Glenn but they moved to a different premises, hence the name change).

I found Michelle and Chris to be very honest about every one of their horses. I don't know how much things have moved on over the last few years but it used to be your young cob types which were honest but would usually have to be brought on- though by the looks of things, they now have a lovely school so seem to be able to work with the horses a bit more. They also frequently seem to get finer types in these days.

I found them to be lovely people and Michelle was certainly the first to say a spade is a spade. She will tell you as much as she knows about each horse.

I also got my boy from Judi Thurloe and I am delighted with him. She had quite a few suitable types for me to try and my only regret is that I didn't buy the other nice youngster I tried as well.

I would say she has a good eye for a horse, whether that is a lower budget happy hacker or a more expensive competition type horse.

Melanie Watson.is not a dealer but has horses on for retraining and sometimes has one for sale. Hers are always exceptionally well mannered and great in traffic. Don't know if she would know of anything coming up in your kind of budget...
