Hi, I am thinking loads about my horses future... I'm selling three of my four. Moving of my yard and renting a field, and hopefully loaning a cob/native for my brother. :(

That leaves me with my troublesome TB.
I love that little guy to bits, but have decided I cant crack this on my own.
I am going to send him away to be rebacked/reschooled.

Any recommendations?

I'm in Lancashire, so somewhere local(ish) is important.
I will travel upto an hour in any direction.

I'd been hoping to send him to JanetGeorge, but my geography is atrocious because she is about two hours away from me. However if I can't find anyone local then I will definatley consider further afield.

I don't want just anyone, I need it done properly this time.
I can't afford to keep a horse I can't ride, and I've made the tough decision to keep the TB because I know all the others will find great homes, whereas my TB wont, and if I don't stick with him, something bad will happen to him, and I can't let that happen.

Quick overview,
Was schooledf for 10 weeks.Or so I was told. Turned out to be only 2 Weeks.
I carried on his education and hacked him out.
He was going really well.
Hurt his back in the field.
Vet called.
Physio called.
One month off.
One month long reining.
Now. he wont let anyone on. :(

Having his teeth and back rechecked by the vet within the next month and saddle is also being checked.

Any recommendations?

Any help greatly appreciated, I need to solve this issue. :(

Feel free to PM if you don't want to post details on the open forum :)

(I'm going to "bump" this up in the morning to see if other people can recommend anyone :) )

Eternal thanks for anyone who can help me! (And Im not even joking! :D )

Could still have issues with back - my horse had a muscle problem (similar he got cast) and no one vet and others no help, acupuncture fixed the problem.

If there is any residual soreness, you will waste time and money on breaker until this is fixed.
I bought a new pony for the kids and my farrier picked up he was sore in back (he was bucking occasionally and very grumpy) it was a kidney infection/sore kidneys - apple cider vinegar for about 2 weeks and then all okay.

Sorry do not know anyone in UK or your local area, so no help there.
Having someone start your horse properly (restart) is a worthwhile investment, but it does help if you are able to be there so that you can get involved with the horse before it comes home.

Horsedreams - thanks, I did reply to your pm but I wasn't sure if it sent?
Thanks, I'll definatley look into him :)

Jeeve - if the vet indicates there is the smallest amount of soreness in his back accupunture is my next idea. Once he is in perfect health, off he'll go to be reschooled

Thanks for your help :) any more names/advice appreciated :)

OP, I'm not in your area so can't help but wanted to say that you're being very responsible keeping and fixing your 'problem' horse when you've sold the others. Great example for other owners.

Best of luck with the re-backing. It does at least sound like he has a very genuine reason (bad back) so once that is all truly fixed building up his confidence again should give you what you need.

David Rimmer in Southport. Great with problem horses and not too expensive.
xx

Ditto this.
He is fantastic. He is extremely thorough, honest and a very likeable chap. I wouldn't hesitate to send another of mine to him.
I went on somebody's recommendation, he'd worked wonders with her mare, she'd got to the point where she couldn't even get on her .

Thanks, will definatley investigate him further :)

Moo1 I did try to reply to your pm, but not sure if it sent?

Thank, I have rung round a few people but haven't been 100% convinced by the conversation.

Will give David Rimmer a ring tomorrow :)

Thanks!!! :D
