I apologise for spamming All About Dogs - I am practising social distancing, I am working from home and I have nobody to talk to ?? It is undoubtedly the right thing to do but the hounds and George aren’t great at conversation ?

So today I took advantage of working at home (until 9pm last night to get a piece of work finished) and took the dogs for a walk in the sunshine at lunchtime for an hour. It really was one of those breakthrough moments.... I suddenly realised that after almost a year I can finally let Ace greyhound off the lead on a walk, as he has emerged from his little enclosed bubble and decided he loves me and wants to be with me ❤️ At last, no danger of him running off as soon as I unclip the lead!

It was great to have my boys walking beside me off the lead - and George ploughed through all the muddiest bits, as he sees this to be his mission ?

It’s a fabulous feeling isn’t it, when somehow there’s a ‘shift’ in behaviour that you thought you might never see. With some dogs it can be quick, with others, it can take ages.

I kept trying Willow off lead and she kept bogging off, then one day she didn’t!! Took over 12 months for this to happen.

I reckon Rufus is my biggest success, if you like. It’s fair to say he was horrible when he first came into rescue and incredibly unpredictable with people. If he liked you, he liked you forever. If he took a dislike, he was not to be trusted.

I always had to tell people to totally ignore him, don’t even look at him. He learned from the other dogs that having a fuss from people wasn’t all bad and not everyone was out to hurt him. He’s fabulous now and happy to say hello to anyone and have a fuss. Somewhere I never thought we would be in the early days.

Sounds like a very much needed tonic Lev!! Your hounds (and George) are a credit to you :) :) This working from home lark is a funny old job but I had a fabulously spontaneous walk with my dogs today, just when I felt like it. Amazing!! :)

It really is strange, I suppose it is that there so many unknowns. And I feel so helpless as I work in HR, people are asking me for answers I don’t have and support/interventions that I’m not allowed to approve ?

But the dogs never fail to cheer me up, I miss my Amy lurcher hugely but the others are doing their best to make up for her absence ❤️❤️❤️

What do you mean George isn't great at conversation? I'm sure you complained when he tried to engage you in conversation when you were working at home the other day? :D

This absolutely made me laugh out loud ???

I’ve never encountered a little dog who is such a contradiction.... I absolutely adore him, he is so totally cute and wonderful, but oh my goodness his barking! You really do have to live with it to understand it ?

I hope after today we are establishing working parameters....

We went to the office together to print off some documents and scan some stuff in.... George was not impressed, he thought we were going for a walk ?
