Hi

Was just wondering who uses rescue remedy on their horse, how much you give and how you give it.

I am thinking of giving my mare 10 drops in her feed. Is it ok to give it like that not diluted or anything?

I put 5 drops onto a quarter apple for my mare before I loaded her, as we had been having a few snags.

She loaded like a dream, but I suspect that was more due to me taking four drops of it at the same time!

I think I had been rushing her too much and getting in a state myself expecting her to play up tbh!

We use it for specific times-e.g. on Bonfire Night. They usually get 10 drops on a sugar cube, seems to work for everything from foals upwards

Tried to give some to my horse on a sugar cube and he wouldn't touch it! I find it helps me to stay calm at a show.

is this just rescue remedy that you get in the little yellow box from the chemist? I could do with something to chill my mare out to load next week….

When I use it I put about 2 dropperfuls on half an apple or carrot and give a second 'dose' about 15/20 mins later. If I am using it as a more long term thing I put 2 or 3 dropperfuls in their waterbucket overnight. I wouldn't use it in a feed as it would be to dilute - try it on an apple or carrot - I don't like to risk the dropper straight in the mouth as it is glass!!

I have been using it on my youngster about 6 drops on a piece of apple half an hour before we work him. He seems pretty relaxed going to use it for the rest of the week and then take him off it and see if theres a difference....

Thanks!

I've looked on their website and it says you can use the spray - 4 sprays straight onto the skin apparently.

We've just moved yards and she isn't coping too well, so thought this might help her relax a little until she's settled.

can you use it long term?

Yes is totally safe to use long term - you might find that 7 - 10 days of it is plenty. When I moved mine the had RR carrots/apples morning and night and then in their water buckets overnight - seemed to do the trick for them.

I'm sure she will settle soon - the spray should be sprayed into the mouth as it is absorbed quickly through the mucous membranes not on the hairy skin!

How many sprays did you put on the carrots?
