Would Rescue Remedy be good? I need something to help the yukky feeling that builds up after my sj, before I leave the start box! If anyone knows an alternative, please recommend!

Gin!!!

It's definitely worth a try, for my last two competitions I've used rescue remedy (my competition nerves build up from the minute I wake up on the day of the comp

!) and have felt much better. Still nervous but not so bad.

However I'm not yet at the stage of jumping something like the jump in your signature - I might need more than Rescue Remedy if I were about to jump that!!

Rescue remedy is water & brandy (50% water, 50% brandy) based so technically in much bigger quantities, it probably could get you drunk

I thought it must be. Lordy I can remember loads of the parents giving RR to kids as young as 12 before a big Showjumping Class. Bet the poor mites are going to AA now.
I can not understand, why would anyone use the stuff? Surely it is almost the same as giving a horse a sedative.

Having used it myself, it's a natural based thing that helps to settle the nerves/adrenelin pumping around your body. There is a huge element of mentally thinking you're calmer because you've taken it.

Considering the normal dosage that is recommended - it's not going to have the same affect that ACP would on a horse

Lebt - give it a go. You certainly wont know until you try, and you've got nothing to lose. It works for some people and not others. Best of luck

I use it and it's brilliant for taking the jitters away. It seems to work to take the edge off you without making you less reactive, if that makes sense.

I have taken it and I do think it helps - if anything just helps you focus a bit more - I also take some homeopathic tablets leading up to the event that are supposed to help anxiety - Oh yeh and some Kalms the night before to help me sleep!! Can you tell I get nervous!!!!!
