Research project...PLEASE HELP

I'm studying A levels at school in the hope of becoming a vet.
I have the opportunity to complete a research project to get extra UCAS points and impress universities.
However, I have NO idea what to do it on.
I was thinking something along the lines of:
Laminitis
Headshaking
Effects of racing on horses (I'm not against racing but it would be interesting to consider how riding horses when they are young may affect development etc)
Artificial insemination/embryo transfer
Gastric ulcers

I have to write a 5000 word essay, fill in a log book on my research and give an oral presentation to a non specialist audience.
Any of these you think would be good or any ideas of what else I could do it on?

I think I would go with ex racers .I had beautiful ex racer who really suffered with spavin tendons and poor feet.I feel he was doing too much too young and the wear and tear on his joints caused most of his problems.

Ex racers does have a lot of scope, mine is 9, last raced as a 4yo, has had KS surgery, a tendon injury and navicular!
