Yesterday I took my dog to the rspca to meet another one and see if they got on in order to re home him and it all went brilliantly so he is reserved for us until my OH can go and meet them next week and they can do home visit!
Can anyone give me more info about what questions they will ask on the 2nd visit and what to expect on the home visit?

That`s great news, really hope it works out for you. We re-homed a middle aged Staffie from the SSPCA a few weeks ago, he`s a brilliant little dog and had brought much happiness into our lives after the sad loss of our 13 year old German Shepherd. With regard to the home visit, they are really checking that your garden is secure and that you are sure you want a dog in your home and that you will give it the love and attention it needs, as you already have a dog I shouldn`t think you`d have any problems, good luck, have fun with your new addition!

Thanks will I need to hunt out my girl's vaccination cards to peove she is up to date, have no idea wherw they are for anything but the horse.

Hi congratulations, hope everything goes well for you and your new addition :)

Our home check was literally checking garden fences and vet certs. I couldn't find mine either so I gave them vets number so they could call and check, they were quite happy with this.

You should be asked what other pets you have, the sleeping arrangements for the new arrival, who will have daily responsibility for the dog, have you ever adopted an animal from a rescue organisation before, which vet you use, do you understand the costs involved, have you considered insurance, are you prepared to undertake training your dog, the type, height and security of your fencing, the lowest and highest point of the fencing, what is the longest time your dog will be left unattended. All very basic stuff that will mostly come out in conversation anyway. Oh, and what type of accommodation you have and do you own it. If rented, a letter from the landlord giving permission to have a dog in the house. Is your OH definitely keen to have another dog?
Good luck, I'm sure it will all be fine, you're already over the most important hurdle, your dog and possible new one getting on!!!!
