Resin coated ply as trailer floor

Not sure what the question is...

Are you asking if resin ply is okay to put down in a trailer you have; or

Are you looking at a trailer that has a resin ply floor?

We're refurbishing a trailer. We've been advised to put in 3/4" ply, then a sheet of aluminium, then rubber.

Marine ply is apparently no good for trailer floors because it's designed to withstand salt water, not horse wee etc.

Interesting about the marine ply. I was told that it would be the best thing if you were going for ply. i didn't as it happend and went for proper old fashioned 'plank' type stuff. Just didn't like the idea of ply...........

I'm looking at a trailer with resin ply floor.
Thank you for your replies. I'm not sure if I will stick with the good old faithful of aluminium and give this one a miss.

I think marine ply is what has been used for years, times move on and the next best apparantly was phenyl coated. Then people started putting ali chequerplate over the top of ply or phenyl ply, then we get ali floors. Personnally if I had an ali floor I would probably cover it with ply anyway. Ali can still corode and theres been stories of it getting fatigue at joints with the constant vibration of a wagon. My wagon had the ali plate over marine ply but still no protection from the salt, water etc from underneath. Im no expert though

The difference between marine ply and regular is the glue they use, marine ply needs to be sealed (varnished or painted) to have any chance of lasting otherwise it will start to rot very quicly!!! it isnt realy suitable for flooring or ramps.. The phenol stuf is a high quality ply that is sealed and coated with resin so moisture cannot get in and also makes it stronger than bare ply and long lasting..
