I imagine this topic has come up before but could not find it.
I seriously feel that fleas are becoming resistant to dog flea treatments. I treat my JRT every month, 12 months a year, with a spot on and have used Advantage, Frontline and Advocate over the past 18 months and none seem to work for very long. Within a week or so she's scratching again and a couple of weeks and we're being bitten.
I then spray the house with Flee (a non-chemical spray that covers the fleas, eggs and larvae in silicon) which seems to sort it out for a couple of weeks but I'm sure my flea treatment used to work better. And it's so expensive.
Rant over... discuss!

Over 90 percent of the flea population is not living on the dog.
They are living in the house/kennels/bedding/ carpet.

I would be very very surprised if your population has resistance to all of the products used and would hazard an educated guess that its more a problem of numbers. Enough of an infestation in an area and jut treating the animals will not work.

You need to focus on the environment the dog is picking the bugs up from....everywhere she has access too is a potential respawn spot unfortunately....and it sounds like you may have an ongoing issue here with dormant larvae as well as fresh.

My parents had a flea problem last year, dogs constantly scratching and losing hair.
Vet prescribed frontline duo, and to wash all their bedding at 60c, and to spray the house, crates, sofas and all the nooks and crannys

*stupid phone!

They put all the dog toys in an old pillowcase and washed them too, when they emptied them out they found about 10 dead fleas! House was re sprayed a week later and that seemed to do the trick. Couldn't believe they were living in the toys!!

I use stronghold which seems to work well for me but i also agree with the advice about fleas living in carpets and the home etc you can get sprays/treatments for that but another good deterrent is adding garlic to your dogs food really works! or csjk do a flea/tick deterrent
