Respiratory Supplement for Pollen Suffer

Pony really struggling with the the pollen this year. Can anybody recommend me a supplement? Must not contain any form of sugar as pony suffers with EPSM. I have previously tried Global herbs Pollen-x but this contains liquorice syrup and I'm currently using Cortaflex Airways Extra strength powder but this doesnt seem to be making any difference. He does wear a nose net when ridden.

Any info appreciated (:
 
Hi. MY lad has usually started with the pollen by now. I have got him on turmeric for his joints and for some reason this seems to be helping his allergy. I have had him ten years and have tried all sorts, and spent hundreds trying to help him. Feeding him turmeric is the only thing I have done differently this year so I'm assuming it's that? Now I have said that he will probably start tomorrow!!
 
Hi, my mare also really struggles with the pollen and it is only at this time of year until around the end of July. I think it has a lot to do with the fact we are literally surrounded by oil seed rape fields as it seems to fit in with the time frame when the allergy is at it's worst.
I have tried both the supplements you mentioned and neither really made much difference. I have also tried Equine America Ventilator which seemed to work the best.
I have found the best way to control it is through routine. She is turned out overnight and in during the day and I try to ride early in the mornings if I know it's going to be a high pollen count. She also only has haylage and totally dust free bedding to keep her airways as clear as possible. This approach seems to be working so far! On competition days when I can't control the times I ride she has a shot of NAF five star Respirator liquid which seems to do the trick.
She doesn't head shake at all though, just gets a runny nose and a bit of a cough.
 
I am in the same situation as flipthelid, my mare suffers from pollen from now til july, and we are surrounded by oil seed rape fields, she is on rubber mats and easibed, steamed hay, everything to help keep her environment as dust free as possible just to help her, not because she has an actual dust problem. I use James Hart Solutions AllergAllay (I get it from Horse Health online) it works very well for her, but i'm not sure how it rates sugar wise, but it is fei legal.

i feed turmeric to my headshaker too and I think it helps as it is anti-inflammatory (might help an irritated trigeminal nerve). I also feed salt which like liquorice reduces potassium in the diet.
 
Hi clava, yes it could well be that it is helping the trigeminal nerve. Usually as soon as the tree pollen arrives and the rape flowers he is terrible. We are surrounded by rape and we are on the edge of the fens so there is nothing stopping the pollen. I have to say so far it's been a relief not to see him suffer.
 
We have used FEED MARK CLARITY which is herbal and works well,I rang Feedmark and they sent me a sample,so I was sure the horse would eat it.

Unfortunately both Feed Mark Clarity and NAF Respirator have liquorice in and Equine America Ventilator has Glycerine in it.
Can't believe how hard it is to find something that doesn't have some sort of sugar in!
Will give the Tumeric and AlleryAllay a go.

I have been using homeopathic mixed pollen tablets for me this year as I get bad hayfever from tree pollen and so far they have worked well. They might be worth trying for your horse. I know Horse Health sell them for horses but I got mine from Amazon
