I am going to get my horse some after being on ventipulmin and he is now ok, but occasionally coughs so what is the best supplement to use out of these:
NAF 5* Respirator boost- Liquid or powder?
NAF easy breathing- liquid or the herb form?
NAF Kof Eze

I am open to other types, but it is so confusing! so answers on a post card.
He is in full work and competes regularly- eventing, team chasing, show jumping etc.
Thanks :)

Winergy Ventilate is the only one that meant my old boy could work without ventipulmin. It was recommended by my vet. It's pelleted so very easy to feed, and was about £30 for a month's supply. Not everywhere stocks it but should get it to order. The NAF stuff was all a complete waste of money, but I don't think much of anything they do.

Global herbs Airways Plus works a treat for my girl, she ends up with it all year round as she is very pollen sensetive as well as having a problem with hay dust.

oh lord.
still confused!
I guess its a bit of trial and error then!
Might try the Winergy stuff, especially if it was recommended by a vet. Don't normally use supplements etc. so have no idea! haha
Will give the Winergy stuff a go and then try Equine American stuff if that doesn't work!

I am doing the best I can. He can't go out 24/7. he is in a huge open barn, on paper away from straw bedding and on very good hay...
And putting him out wouldn't necessarily solve everything. He will be out as much as possible in the summer but for now just looking for something to keep his cough down.

Have you tried steaming his hay? All our horses except one have no problem with the hay but one does need it steamed.

My mare has very mild COPD, over the course of the winter she's had 2 chest infections, since using Equinaturals Anti-Cattarh (sp?!) fingers crossed, barely any coughing and no infections........ touch wood, fingers crossed!!!......... She has been out slightly more since as the weather has also improved so I cannot obviously say how much of this improvement is because of the herbs.

They are soo helpful, and will make herbal mixes up specifically for you, depending on what your horses symptoms are, just contact them and they will advice what mix. The herbs are specially mixed for your order, and delivery is fast to your door! I also add some ground aniseed to her feed (also available from Equinaturals) and also chop 2 garlic cloves into her feed.

See link: http://equinatural.co.uk/

Haven't tried steaming his hay, although did try soaking it...that was when we had some super dusty hay but we have changed to some hay which is made out of a different type of grass and has literally no dusty stuff...
Thanks for that link, will contact them and see what they suggest! Sounds like that could be a good other option!

why cant he go out 24/7 and still stay in work? a nice rug? he wont shrink in the rain or wither in the cold? and access to 24/7 air with no bedding irritants?

Because the yard im at wont allow it until the summer.
I am not worried about him being out 24/7, he used to be but that is how the yard is run...
Like i said, i am doing everything I can.
