Following on from my previous post, I have noticed that my mare's breathing (when exercising) has got noisier since she has been stuck in her stable 24/7 because of the snow.
It's definitely a noise she makes when exhaling and even though it is worse on the side of her face that had the injury, I have started to wonder about COPD.
Will get vet out anyway to have a look, just wondered if anyone can recommend a supplement for respiratory problems, as I would prefer this to drugs?

I use Winergy's Ventil-ate for my 28 year old. He's still in work but gets a bit wheezy, coughing in extremes of weather (hot/cold/dusty) - found it makes a huge difference.

My 30 year old had severe respiratory issues recently to the extent we thought he would not survive. I was keen to find something to help him after the initial Ventipulmin from the vet had run out. Looked at various H+H posts and narrowed the choice down to Winergy Ventilate , Global Herbs and Equine America Coffless . Also considered a Naf product. Went with Global Herbs as people reported a fast response to the products and time was against us and Winergy said it could be 2 weeks before we saw the full benefit of the Ventilate. May be wise to identify the source of the breathing issues so you know what may be used to best effect. There are products that you can use to open up the airways just before working. Good Luck.

I used NAF 5* Respirator Boost liquid when my mare started coughing due to dusty hay and too much stabling. I immediately started soaking the hay but she wouldn't stop coughing. I used a 500ml bottle of the liquid at the recommended rate and since then she's not coughed once (hay still soaked). It was £12.50 for 500ml (eight days' worth).
I didn;t see the point in using something long-term as the problem wasn't long-term

I think the Global Herbs ones work well and start to work quite quickly (for a herbal). Dust-ex is the general one for helping them cope with dusty environments (which might be the problem if it is worse when stabled more)

My gelding has severe COPD, and as a 7yr old was being competed at least weekly, with the condition completely under control. The only supplement we have had Any success with, and it was very noticeable, was Winergy Ventilate. In addition to that, as dust free an environment and as much turnout/clean air as realistically possible/practical. x

I use one from Veteran Horse Feeds on Banana, he's 30 and wheezes sometimes while ridden but, I think it's called Respirator, works really well and as soon as I start feeding it to him, he's fine.
