I am going to get my horse some after being on ventipulmin and he is now ok, but occasionally coughs so what is the best supplement to use out of these:
NAF 5* Respirator boost- Liquid or powder?
NAF easy breathing- liquid or the herb form?
NAF Kof Eze

I am open to other types, but it is so confusing! so answers on a post card.
He is in full work and competes regularly- eventing, team chasing, show jumping etc.
Thanks :)

My horse has chronic COPD and besides ventipulmin Im trialling NAF respirator. Ive put her on the liquid and shes been on it a week and tbh Ive seen absolutely no difference. But Ive heard good reports from other people about it.

Just out of interest. My horse was diagnosed in Feb with COPD. Shes been living out since then but I think its a mixture of bedding and haylage shes allergic to. Ive used 2 tubs of venti this being my third. Just wondering how you managed to clear your horses COPD. Im thinking of moving yards because of it. Ive also started about 2/3 weeks ago soaking her haylage.

Copied from NL:
My mare has very mild COPD, over the course of the winter she's had 2 chest infections, since using Equinaturals Anti-Cattarh (sp?!) fingers crossed, barely any coughing and no infections........ touch wood, fingers crossed!!!......... She has been out slightly more since as the weather has also improved so I cannot obviously say how much of this improvement is because of the herbs.

They are soo helpful, and will make herbal mixes up specifically for you, depending on what your horses symptoms are, just contact them and they will advice what mix. The herbs are specially mixed for your order, and delivery is fast to your door! I also add some ground aniseed to her feed (also available from Equinaturals) and also chop 2 garlic cloves into her feed.

penfold- he is now on paper, changed from straw, away from straw stables and is on very good quality hay made out of some different type of grass which means it has little dust in it. We have also been through 2 pots of ventipulmin and although did help immediately when he had a sudden bout of coughing, didn't actually seem to clear anything up...
I had previously soaked his hay until i got this new hay and its now not necessary tbh. The other thing with mine is it gets worse if he's not in work! He also only coughs in walk...
We did have to change a fair amount of how he was stabled etc. have to brush out his stable really thoroughly now etc. Hay is kept in a tub as the few dust things now fall to the bottom which means i can easily get rid of them in the morning. I think he developed COPD after having a lot of mucus in his lungs, which then knocked his immune system which meant he lost condition and then developed COPD... the first tub of V he was on was for the chest infection type thing and then the second was for his COPD. I think it varies with every horse how you tackle it as some are fine with just soaked hay but some need more than that. We are just sort of working out what he can and can't cope with. He has been on paper for 2 weeks now and is a really good bedding and very dust free! Hope that has helped!

Competitiondiva- i have emailed them and so fingers crossed will get a reply soon. They seem like something that could help as have given details of his cough and how he lost a bit of condition etc. so fingers crossed they can come up with a blend that will help him get over it all...
