Hi all - I'm looking for any recommendations for respiratory supplements for my horse.
He was diagnosed with allergenic bronchitis over a month ago, vet suspected a pollen allergy, causing his airways to become inflamed and increasing his general sensitivity to dust/ hay / straw etc.
He was initially treated with 10 day course of ventipulmin and bute. This did lessen his coughing but it did not disappear entirely, vet came back out and provided two inhalers (sorry for my lack of medical terminology here!) one blue, one red, to be given if he was wheezing or coughing.
After regular use he has definitely improved, still the odd cough but he is much much better. The vet has given the all clear for me to ride and compete him again, and pony is coping well. The wet weather seems to have made a huge difference, he is currently turned out at night, all his hay and feed is soaked (hay fed from the ground), and he is wearing a nose net virtually 24/7.
In the meantime, is there anything else I can give him to help his breathing and ensure he doesn't have a relapse when the weather dries up again?
I've been considering the HackUp Air supplement but am open to suggestions!
Any advice greatly appreciated :)

I've used Winergy Ventilate a couple of times and found it effective but that has been short term coughs/ runny noses etc rather than long term. Its small pellets and my horse found them tasty enough to eat on its own as well as in feed.

NAF respirator boost is amazing!!!! I have only used the boost, but having looked at ingredients it has a better selection. My mares cough stops with in a day of using it, and I ran out a week ago and the cough has still not come back.

You can ask to have him allergy tested and then they make a vaccine that will be specifically for him. You inject it daily at first and then eventually it goes down to monthly injections. It's a small needle and you can do it yourself.
Having the print out of the allergies means you can get rid of certain triggers. I had put mine onto shavings but straw was not on her list so I could change her bed back again. However, there were some trees near her paddocks which needed sorting.
It has worked well for mine. She is puffy again this year but not as bad as before. I have had to retire her but she was an extreme case.

My pony is on a German liquid garlic supplement which really helps him out. We tried switching but this is the one we come back to.

Another vote for NAF Rspirator Boost - in my experience, it's fantastic stuff! On a couple of occasions the vet has prescribed Ventipulmin but it has had mediocre success but a course of Boost it's cleared it completely.

Last year I just gave him Boost when he developed an allergy cough (he is at livery on a large arable farm with fields of Oilseed Rape), and it worked as well as always.

However, if his cough became "productive" or changed in its nature, I would of course arrange for the vet to visit.

I have used Naf respiratory boost in the past and it was ok. Wynergy ventilate didn't seem to do anything. I've had most success with global herbs airways plus. Interestingly their pollenex i don't think helped as much. This year he has been on airways plus since the start of the year and piriton since about April. He is still in full work (although we get the occassional cough) whereas in the previous 2 years we would be on walk/trot work only by now. I do sometimes see nasal discharge a little while after work but I take the opinion it is better to get it out than have it stuck in the airways.

Sorry to hijack!
Can you tell me more about this? Who to contact or a website?
