Hi there, just a quick question, if a dog comes chasing after my little dog when we are out running in the field, should I stop and wait for owners to retrieve their dog, or do i just carry on running, its not my problem, let them catch up with it?

Its just that I'm getting fed up of dogs annoying my little dog and then following us half way across the field, then the owners having a bit of a moan because they have had to add an extra 20 minuets onto their walk, or their too old to be chasing after dogs.

Carry on running, it's their problem - if they can't control their dog it should be on a lead.

It's nice sometimes for two off-lead dogs to stop and have a play, if there's free space and the owners are amenable, but if you're running you clearly don't have time to stop and faff around so it's their responsibility to not let their dog bother you.

I for one still can't guarantee this, so mine is kept on a lead (albeit a very, very long one).

Had the reverse situation recently. Man ruinning with his 2 labs, one stopped to play with mine. I carried on and went through gate. Mine followed, as did lab  Could I get it back the other side of the gate? What began as playing, turned into snapping and constant jumping on one of mine. Was shouting out to bloke who was totally oblivious to the fact he was a dog down and now 1/2 a mile away!

He eventually came back for it and scowled at me for his dog being the wrong side of the gate "he'd have caught up with me if you'd not shut him in" he said - won't say what I said
