As title really!

Kensa is due to be spayed but vets want her in between seasons. Thats now ... but the first shoot is in 2 weeks!

Obviously 2 weeks is too soon to be worked, and i can cope with just Ellie and Jake but how long til she would be ok with picking up again?

Thanks :D

Oh  not as long as i thought then!!

Not really 'up' on it all as Dad usually breeds from ours at some point. Kensa has a heart murmur so will never be having babies :( so thought it best to have her done.

Lots of it !

My springer was zonked for days, she was done on the wednesday, I took 3 days off work to be with her at home after the op, she took at least a week to be sort of normal, operation was great, only a very small scar bout 2 inches, no iritation, healed like a dream, she didn't lick it or anything. It must of been hurting her a bit though, prob stretching the skin, she'd look at it as if to say whats happend here ! but she didn't touch it thank god.

I'd say to take it easy for a good few weeks, she was still tender for while after, like when stretching up she'd give a little wince

Alice was spayed last Monday, she was conked out on Monday night but woke up with normal Springer energy on Tues morning :o :D She had a post op check on Wednesday and was on lead exercise only until Friday (by which time she was climbing the walls :o ) On Saturday we went to agility class  She stayed on the lead to restrict her speed :D and we had to miss out the jumps which was fine by Alice cos tunnels are her favourite anyway :D but vet and dog trainer said it was ok to do that much. She is getting her stitches out on Thursday :)

Mine had a day's house arrest the day after the op, two days of on-lead walking, a checkup on the third day and in all honesty was back to full hooning in 10-14 days.

She had dissolvable stitches, not sure if that makes any difference, but after sleeping straight through the first 24 hours she didn't seem at all sore or sorry after that.

Their powers of healing are amazing, I feared the worst when she dislocated her hip but the vet was actually urging me to increase the exercise at one point and she was indeed totally sound in about two weeks. She dragged me up Snowdon mere weeks after that, with the blessing of the vet!

Thanks for your comments guys!!

I will ring the vets tomorrow and get her in this week hopefully - the sooner she's done the sooner she's back on her feet.

Silly mut she is!! :D:D
