Hi guys

Well Lu is rapdily approaching being able to come back into ridden work (thank goodness long lining is getting boring for both of us! lol!)...

I've decided that I am not emotionally up to restarting him (loosing River means I've pinned all my hopes onto him and setting him on too higher a pedistal (sp)) and I genuinely believe you have to be calm, confident and paitent when working with youngsters - esp as he will effectively be being rebroken.

I've been recommended this place highly by a few of my friends but have no idea on costs etc - to me it seems a reasonable price but my Dad is saying its OTT - what do you all think:

All livery packages include:
Bedding (usually shavings)
Hay or haylage
Hard feed which is arranged to suit your horses individual needs. We have an excellent supplier who can suggest specific diets to suit your requirements and most brands of feeds are available.
(Supplements and specialist feeds are at cost to you. We can also supply Equine America products at 10% discount to our clients)
Tack cleaning
Daily grooming
Horse laundry
Use of yard facilities which include heat lamps and wash box
(Use of equipment such as Equissage machine and muscle stimulators are available at discounted rates)
Use of 20 x 40m sand and rubber school with selection of jumps

Turnout:
Is available all year round in fields with post and rail or electric fencing. Horses are turned out in single sex groups, pairs or individual.

Breaking Livery - £150 per week
On top of our usual livery service this also includes 6 days exercise per week to fit your requirements.. Up to 3 feeds per day and daily turnout. Extras include 2 free Equissage sessions per week and holding for treatments/farrier up to 30 mins. Bathing/turnout for competitions (if required), clipping and trimming is included!

Thanks guys, I'm going to visit this weekend hopefully - are there any questions I should ask? Never done this before! Lol!

sounds like a good price- more important though are the reccomendations.

i think you can very much follow your gut feeling with yards.

ask to see some of the young horses they currently have in working.

Well I paid 825 euro (750 GBP) per month for Vardi's re-brake and training livery and to be honest I am delighted and consider it money well spent as I am always being complimented on the manners and knowledge of my horse.

Very much the same was on offer as yours and I would say as long as you have good recommendations from this place which are frankly the most important thing then go for it if you can afford it.

When Vardi first went into training we decided on some very clear objectives and I am glad to say they have delivered on each one.

One recommendation is from my instructor who helped me back him in the first place - she rates the work they do very highly.

Its an important decision as I believe that he has the potential to be a very special horse, but he can be very sensitive about things and I want it done properly after all the trials we've been through. I think its money well spent if its done correctly.

I've phoned a few places and prices range from £60pw to £200+.

I charge almost half that for the same treatment but I live an awful long way away from you. It doesnt sound too expensive if there are no hidden charges. Hope it works out well for you. M.

I sent 2 youngsters to this place at Easter this year for a couple of weeks 'learning'. I didn't want them broken at the time.

I can recommend it. Jules was very calm and patient with them both and I was happy with the outcome. I'm still planning to send the horse I have left back next year for breaking.

She has a nice big school and lots of off road places to hack.

Edited to say - there were no hidden extras.

sounds like a good deal to me! try to get there as often as possible and watch your horse worked, so you can continue the good work when you get him home! send him with dirty rugs they might come home clean!!!!! (joke)
