I'm looking for a retirement type full livery as I'm moving away and don't want to sell the horses, one of them is retired, the other I just want to turn away for a while. I want somewhere they will be checked and cared for properly every day. I've found one that looks lovely in Wales but it is 5 hours from home, I'm going to view but would ideally like to find somewhere closer.

I want there to be plenty of land for all year turnout, I don't want to go to just a normal type full livery where they're stabled all the time etc, but they must be able to manage grazing for a good do-er/lami prone type.

The one I'm looking at is a small herd situation, live out with stables and hay available for them as they please and the lady sounds lovely and knowledgable, just wish it was closer to home so the horses would be nearby when I visit home but I suppose it doesn't matter as long as they're happy.

Any recommendations or ideas?

I've been thinking about doing retirement livery. Mostly because I'm more of a horse person than a people person ;) At the moment I just do DIY and part-livery. Thankfully my current owners are lovely, so I don't mind sharing with them.

Where in the NE are you and when are you moving?

It's what I do and it is possible easily with enough land as we have to manage all year turnout. The only thing to consider as a herd is the lami prone one and is there an alternative set up to allow that to have sufficient company/freedom/correct management when needed? I keep my owners regularly updated on Facebook and very few visit more than once it twice a year, some are from quite far away. My only advice would be to get word of mouth recommendations and don't believe that just because somewhere is expensive, that it's the best. Xx
