I dont know much about retirement homes but it is an option i am considering for my young horse who is currently field sound but not able to be ridden at the moment. He is only 9. I havent made any definate decisions yet as i am awaiting more xrays results due to be taken Wednesday so i will be a lot clearer what needs to be done after then.
He currently has bone spavin in both his hocks and OA in his stifles but has a seperate issue going off on front ?navicular? hope not
anyway he is quite happy at the moment in the field doing naff all and i know some people have mentioned the pts route as i have also thought about this for months but i cannot justify it at the moment when he doesnt seem that he is in any pain.
Im desperate to get competing again so would love to buy another horse but i only have one stable available where i am so i am looking at some retirement homes within a reasonable distance (an hours drive from yorkshire) however the ones i have found are either absolutly miles away wales/scotland or very expensive - unfortunetly im not well off either so i have a smallish budget. Does any one know of, or can recommend any retirement livery homes within a decent budget and not so far away.
