Poppy the pocket rocket is lame again. Have had the vet out and she thinks (without x rays) its the fact that Poppy has ringbone, arthritis, navicular and gets lami at the drop of a hat. X rays we had taken of her hinds 2 years ago showed severe changes in her pedal bones although she has been pretty sound since then, bar a lami episode last summer. She is now on half a bute a day and is much happier, quite the old whizz kid, but vet says (and I agree) no more jumping on hard ground, no trotting ditto and so on.
I am quite happy to retire her, shes a star who could potter about, but what do you think the chances are of her going unshod? I will speak to my farrier when I next see him, but just early thoughts please.
Sorry this is so long!
