Does anyone have any experience of registering a horse for the RoR series of competitions where the horse's passport wasn't issued by Weatherbys?

As far as I'm aware this is the case, but I don't know if you can simply 'register' a horse with Weatherbys for this, if you need their passport re-issued or if it's simply an impossibility.
The only other requirement I can find listed on the RoR website is that they have raced in Great Britain - which he has - but his passport was issued by a different authority.

Have you emailed them?

Did the horse only do point-to-points/ unregistered races? I don't think they can do RoR in that case, but worth emailing the RoR people. They're usually very helpful :)

I have emailed RoR and Weatherbys but haven't heard back yet.
Just wondering if anyone else had experienced any problems or issues like this. The RoR site isn't very specific when it comes to listing the requirements with regard to qualifying horses... or rather those which are perhaps ineligable and why.:o

As far as I know all his races were officially regulated ones.

He doesn't count as a racehorse in this sense I don't think. He's a standardbred, rather than a traditional TB.

In which case I don't think it counts as an RoR horse. Racing by that definition generally means Jockey Club governed racing over fences or on the flat. Trotting or harness racing is not governed by the Jockey Club.

Passports other than those issued by Weatherbys can sometimes be accepted but these would generally be passports issued by racing bodies in different countries eg. Australia or the US.

It's pity if that is the case.
His racing career ended abruptly with a horrific accident, he pulled through that only to be abandoned mid-winter by the next owner, survived that, learned to canter, jump and started competing at Prelim dressage.
If that's not 're-training' I don't know what is. :D

But that's the thing - he is (or rather 'was').
He raced (and was placed) in sanctioned and regulated races at recognised tracks in Great Britain for many years. He was trained, bet on and subject to strict veterinary examination.

THere is no listing (that I can find anyway) that states that for RoR he needs to be either a Thoroughbred or that he must have raced on the flat, steeplechase etc.
Only that he need to have raced in Great Britain - but they don't seem to specifiy what is meant by 'raced'.

It's a pity if he is ineligible simply because his jockey sat behind rather than on top.

Well, the Weatherbys passport says he needs to be full TB, as they only register full TBs. And they do say the horse needs to have raced in the UK somewhere I think...

Maybe contact SarahThomas on here? She's part of STAGBI!

Thanks for that. :)

It may well be that we have to stick to Trailblazers and BD, but it would be nice to have had the chance to show him where his scars/racing injuries won't be counted against him.

I'm just a bit soft really. He's come through so much and tries so hard that I want to give the wonky ol' camel any opportunity I can to shine.:o
