The Northamptonshire BHS Committee are currently in the throws of organising a lecture/demo on Retraining the Racehorse, hopefully to take place in March/April next year.
The format of the evening will be showing a horse just out of racing and what they are like with regards to bending, etc etc, also to explain the lifestyle they lead when in racing, such as routine, feeding etc
Then there will be several different types of TB shown that have been reschooled in different careers and then there will be hopefully a few TB's that have reached the top in there new careers....
All this is being hosted by a very well respected guest speaker!
There will also be a feed company there along with a saddler.
Would this type of lecture demo interest you?

Have to add it will be held in Northamptonshire!

And why can I never get the hang of these poll things!!!! Just realised you cant vote until 12.00 RATS!!!!

Hello, I'd certainly be interested in coming to this, I'm Northants area (well, technically Bedford but stabled in Northants) and have an ex-racer. Though someone else had already taken the rough edges off him (and made the profit

)

Brilliant..... we did think that this would be a popular topic hence the reason we decided to go ahead with this..... am just awaiting conformation from the committee re costs and then it will be booked and the date given out..... And if there are enough people interested, it should be quite cheap as well!

I rode my ex racer in the RoR demo held recently at the Scottish National Equestrian Centre nr Edinburgh.

It was great fun & 6 of us were taught by Ian Stark, no less, on the flat & jumping.

Can definitely recommend it to anyone either thinking of going to watch or offering themselves as a guinea pig!!

Thank you for your words of encouragement! The guest speaker hosting this is very involved with ROR!

it should lead to an interesting demo, especially if they ask me to jump mine!!!

Can do - nothing too big or fancy though as he's only 4 (5 in march)! He's a typical racer - long and flat over jumps. He was jumping 95cm nicely yesterday though - he does have it in him when he chooses and he is improving as a result of regular grid work.

I'd be well interested in attending something like this, but being based on the south coast it'd be too far for me to come. Especially as I'd have to find someone to cover my yard too. If you are ever thinking of doing something further south then please let me know.

We've had interest from people in scotland!!!! and thats a lot farther! It would be worth the trip (if I say so myself!)

Will give plenty of warning for the date!!!! so plenty of time to sort things out!

Sounds interesting, and I certainly travel all over the place for the right lectures and demos. Whether or not I was interested in coming would depend completely on who the guest speaker is.
