I have been fostering a filly for the rspca for the past 20 months and it is now time for her to go back to be started and then a forever home I no longer have transport and have been quoted £350. to transport her from justoutside weston supermare to the donkey sanctary godalming surrey so any ideas or suggestions of reasonable transport would be great thank you

Is there nowhere near you that rent out small horseboxes? I hired a Renault 3.5 for a day and that was £85 including insurance.
£350 sounds very expensive. Do the RSPCA expect you to pay?

Contact Alan Walter, near Taunton, he travels horses all over the country and works with other transporters to arrange shared loads, I am sure he will get you a better deal but you will need to be very flexible as to when it is done.

Put an advert on the bristol horse and rider facebook page.
They will know of a good trasporter.
I think there is a lady called sharon.

To befair on the RSPCA it is your responsibility.

Maybe a self drive would be cheaper.
I there is a self drive horse box the hire near by that advertised on facebook, I think its a lady called Victoria.

yes he is very good, i have used his transport many a times and always great service. brilliant with bad loaders/travellers and very professional. also reasonable prices. as above though you may have to flexable as to keep cost down for you he tries to find someone to share if they are going in the same direction.

Thank you for your replies will contact sone of these today fostering foals /and yearlings can be so rewarding but sad to see them go but in the knowledge that they will now be old enough to be found a ridden home

Can you speak to RSPCA & see if its possible to get pony to a nearer holding place?
Particularly in view of current weather conditions at this time of the year, or if you can keep pony till spring?
(I thought they were full/closed to taking any more in, over at Lockwood currently)
