Anyone had experiemce or know about this? A good friend is truly going through the mill trying to get to the bottom of her very nice mares unsoundness. Mare has had scans, physio. Box rest, work programme....seems to get so far then wrong again. Chicken and egg as now can't be sure if one problem is causing another..physio will sort out tightness and free up the horse but is it the feet causing the unbalance or the back end causing the front problems!

She swapped to the remedial farrier we use at our yard and he has advised her to get the back feet scanned to check for reverse pedal bone. It would make a lot of sense..horse is fully under vet care so she is not off doing this on her own,

Mare is now out 24 x 7, on a regimented work programme ( vet and physio) so any experiences would be appreciated. This is a really nice young Irish mare without a nasty bone in her body. Had started BE 80 last year too...

Lameness often manifests itself as back pain.

I had a horse with reverse rotation in his pedal bones, with a very sore back. Most common in front feet.

Once the feet were x-rayed, and treated back pain went.

I'd suggest your friend gets a full lameness work up done, including x-rays of the feet. And go from there.

Thanks for your info. She had the front feet Xrayed and " think" mare has been scanned as well. Had various lameness work ups as well...She really has been going around the houses trying to find out what is wrong so she can resolve this properly so any ideas would be appreciated. She was going to talk to her vet today with the suggestion of the pedal bones and arrange an x ray pronto,
