Reverting to M&M from plaited - how long?

Have always (bar one show as a baby) shown my connie as a SHP/small hunter. I have been thinking however that I might "revert" him back to an M&M (no plaiting anymore - sign me up)! My question is, if anyone has also done this, how long roughly did it take to grow everything back in? We are only talking unaff showing here but interested to know!

Unaffiliated you could pretty much show him straight away. For affiliated i’d give it a good 6 months as you need the feather to not look chopped, a pulled tail to grow past the bog brush stage and a reasonable length of mane

I'd just chuck him in and let the hair do it's own thing. It's the general breed type, conformation and movement that the judges are looking for. A mane or feathers won't win you a class.

At unaffiliated level it won't matter. Kick on and have fun! If you want to go affiliated then the autumn will be when you have enough mane, tail and feather to pass, winter before it's fully in.

Tbh, even at high level M&M showing, Connies are trimmed/short mane so I wouldn't worry

Thanks all! His mane grows like a weed anyway so think it will just be the bog brush tail phase that will take the time - I’ll have to sit on my hands to stop from “tidying”!

Will only be unaff as he’s unregistered (hence showing as SHP etc in past)

Hair gel to keep it from bristling too much on the day of the show.
