I had a rhinegold l/w turnout for my last mare. She only wore it a couple of times as she went onto box rest, but I had it washed and sold it on recently and it looked like new. Didn't have a problem with it but wouldn't rave about it either. Bog standard rug really

I had their heavyweight combo turnout.Really weird fitting,it was hanging off the back end but so tight at the front it wouldent do up.My horse is not an odd shape either,he is a bog standard built like a tank irish draught.I wouldent have another Rhinegold rug.

I have one about to go into its 4th winter. HW full neck stable rug. Fits well, cleans up well. Has been worn every day from clipping onwards each winter.

I'd have another.

I bought two, one fit my 16.3 tb really well and lasted ages (A heavyweight turnout). I got a leightweight turnout for my 14hh Exmoor x and it fit her really badly, it also rubbed a big chunk of her mane away where the rug joined the hood after one day (Right to her skin!)! It took months to grow back! So I don't rate them much!

Ponio has the HW turn out, I think it's the Aspen? Fits her perfectly and she is kept super cosy. The water just runs off it.

She has only worn it one winter though, we'll see how it does this year

Are Rhinegold rugs any good?

NO!!!!

I had a couple of turnout rugs and would never, ever have them again. They're not waterproof, they fit really weirdly and they stink - whatever the lining is made of, it seems to absorb horse sweat and make it smell utterly revolting

I have a few rhinegolds. I have had 2 heavyweight Aspen rugs for 6 years and have never leaked or rubbed. I also have a few lgihter weight ones that i never have had a problem with. My TB is quite fine but she ha a big chest and they all fit well.

I don't think they're very good. Bought a turnout & stitching let it down, first leg straps, then tail flap. Inherited a stable rug with a pony & the edges are fraying & pulling away from the binding.

I'd never by another. Budget rugs IMO.

got one lightweight turnout - bought for my 15hh TBxConnie mare & fitted her fine, now worn by my 15.1hh TB gelding - it's a little big for him as he has a lighter frame than the mare did, but isn't a problem. Also had a waffle cooler for the same mare & that was great too

Also got some for my little 11.1 & they fit him fine as well!

I do like how deep their rugs are, so they cover the horses body well, even if it's a little wide which makes some rugs so that they only just come to the bottom of the horses barrel.
Think it depends on the horse.... and how picky you are :/
