I was just wondering if anyone had one of these and what they were like. I share a very heavy hairy ardennes, who get hot very easily. Me and his owner have been debating trying a fly sheet, as he gets massively attacked by flies, not helped by the lack of shelter in his field (there's nothing we can go about this). However we don't want to make him boil, he has loads of mane to cover his neck so don't really want a built in neck. The Rhinegold fly rug keeps coming up on searches and ebay, and as a trial we dont want to spend a fortune.
Does anyone have one of these and can comment on its fit etc?! Or any other suggestions?

Thanks, sorry its a bit long-winded!

I got one for both of mine some years ago. Was ok I suppose, but very light and slipped a fair bit. I didn't like the detachable neck cover either. I think there are better ones for the money. I have weatherbeeta and really like them. The amigo bug rug is good too and the Derby house ones look quite decent.

A few years or so ago i was given one to try by a local tack shop owner, to test it out.

My horse certainly took his opportunity to test it out!- he was turned out for a couple of hours in it, and when i got him in it was literally in shreds, like a grass skirt!- there was nothing dangerous that he could of caught himself on-he can be a bit of a hooligan at times though, maybe it was the material type, i'm not sure!. I was really embarrassed having to tell the tack shop that it was in shreds!

Having said that though, i have had some Rhinegold rugs in the past- a few summer sheets/duvets and they've been really nice.
