Anyone had experience of these?

I had a Rhinegold 350g full neck turnout and have recently got rid of it. It was no where near as warm as the Shires Typhoon 350g. Also,in the snow the Typhoon had snow sitting on top and the Rhinegold was just wet on top - indicating that the Rhinegold was nowhere near as well insulated as the Typhoon.

Just wondered what other peoples opinions of Rhinegold rugs are - stable & turnout?

I used to sell them and had a fair few complaints about them. I think sometimes it's hit and miss as it will depend on the horse it's to go on (fit could be funny) and also the conditions the horse is kept in. As cheap rugs went they were fine but you got what you paid for!

I have one of those so say ' heavy weight' rugs. Fit ok, but come up very small & not very deep. Got to use it as a medium weight, as its no way 350g!!?

I have a full neck 350gm one, and fits my mare perfectly, keeps her toasty warm and hasn't squished down.

Mine are ponies, maybe that makes a difference.

I have a heavyweight combo on my TB x who lives out. Keeps him warm even though its slightly small and his bum pokes out..

I have ended up with an odd stable neck cover (as in it doesn't match any of my night rugs) and it is great - the sizing seems a little small - she is only 15.2 and the neck cover is labelled large, but I wouldn't want it to be any smaller. But it is a really nice cut and she is very snuggly in it!

Iv got the heavy weight turnout and it fits my 16h mare perfectly and kept her dry for the last 2 winters without being reproofed! last xmas i did put a medium weight turnout under it as well as it was cold! but I like them!

I am amazed by everyones reaction to the rhinegold rugs. I have a light weight rug for my 17.1hh dutchbred. belgian WB who is bizarely a 6ft 6" fit verging only ver slightly on 6ft9" - typical he likes to be awkward! I absolutely love the rug, its fit is good, it has worn well although it does need reproofing after one season and the colour is to die for - raspberry which looks oh, so nice on him, even if I am slightly bias! I woudn't hesitate to buy the same again, but to be honest I am not a great person for buying new things anyway. My bridle has been the one worn by the last two horses, my rambo rug has seen four horses kept warm in it, and my saddle is a cheap synthetic. It is true I suppose, you do get what you pay for.

I have a Rhinegold rainsheet as well as 2 stable rugs (light & heavyweights) for my 16.1hh mare & find they all fit well & dont slip back so i have no complaints about them. The stable ones keep her nice & toasty too so i would buy them again.
