Rhinegold rugs....

I think it depends on the build of your horse ... slender horse on our yard gets on perfectly fine, but for my section C they were not only too narrow, but also ridiculously short on the sides! I got one for my mini and that drowned her in length (practically reaches the floor) but was still tight across the chest. Not sure if that's helpful to you or not! Personally I wouldn't buy another one. xx

I've got a Rhinegold 100g combo turnout for my 16.3hh CBx type mare and it's a reasonably good fit. The only problem I have with it is that it rubs on her chest unless I use an extender, but then most rugs do that on her anyway, so it's not really a reflection on that particular make of rug.

With regard the sides (responding to Orson Sleigh's comment) - I find the sides to be very deep on my mare's sides which is unusual actually because she is such a large statured horse with a deep girth. All in all, I would say they come up pretty true to size, but the chest may be slightly tight.

I've only bought one and wouldn't buy another. Used on a fit, well muscled Crabbet Arabian. Rubbed shoulder points and across chest. Swamped him in width and left him with his bum hanging out. Other users of these rugs who are on our yard, report similar problems with anomalies in sizing.

My 16.3 TBx is wearing one right now😊. Bought it as a reserve but actually use it quite often. It has served us well - is a couple of years old and showing no signs of wear.

Bought one recently and very impressed with it, fits my trotter x very well and sizing seems true. A friend bought one for her WB a week before I bought mine and it fitted him perfectly and sizing was true on him also, I was impressed with the one she bought that I got mine.

Bought one for my hw cob, absolutely useless with shoulders and went straight back. Anything fine might be ok

Just bought one for my chunky highland (a heavy wt T/O)- his usual size - and it fits him very well. Quite impressed for the price tbh as not the most expensive rug available.

as above, I bought 2 light weights a couple of years ago, one for each horse, would never buy them again.

they got soaked though really easily!
they gaped open at the front, regardless of how tight they were done up!

I found that the sizing was okay but not suitable for anything with a chest that was bigger than a skinny tb's

I bought one - the Torrent Spotty one - it's awful . . . doesn't fit Kali properly, has a cotton lining (how is that helpful in a rain sheet?) and rubs . . . I will be selling it.

I've a lightweight rug that also fits my ISH fine & it's been perfectly fine she only wears it during autumn & spring months but its kept her warm & dry. I got it at Burghley when l couldn't get the rug that l wanted. It was reasonably priced & had two years out of it. They aren't the quality of makes such as Rambo & the likes but wouldn't be put off buying another. However l don't think this make of rug would be suited to our native ponies as they are broader so feel they'd be a snug fit.

I've got a couple of rainsheets and they fit my cob mare well, and haven't leaked at all so far! I'm impressed TBH as they were only £30 each from the local tack shop, and I was expecting them to be a bit rubbish

I was a bit of a sceptic when I bought my first Rhinegold, but happily buy them now. They come up on size, not small or big, and generally last well. Whether they rub or not depends on how well they fit any particular horse.

My experience of these rugs was exactly the same

Not for chunks! Slipped back, short on his cobby bum, very short, like a mini skirt on my 15.1 creature. The current combo slips down his neck :(
