Okay, debating getting the cob a decent turnout rug, are Rhinos generous enough around the shoulders to allow for a broad chest? Also, any experience of their higher neck Wugs and rubbing manes?

Thanks!

My old boy isn't a cob but is built very solidly, has big shoulder, backside, and massive neck. The Rhinos fit him really well, I find he needs the same size in these as he takes in a Weatherbeeter rug, but needed a size up from the Masta rug he used to have - so be careful on the sizing depending on what rugs you already have. I did once try a Wug on him and it was a bit too tight on the neck, so you might find the same with your cob. However the neck of a rhino combo he has fits him fine - just a different cut I guess.

My cob has a high neck rhino and a full neck combo rhino which fit him fine and don't rub his mane, plenty big enough round the chest, I then bought a rambo duo and the detachable neck cover wasn't big enough around his neck so had to go and buy a bigger one that would come with a 6'6 rug even though he is only a 5'9!

Came up tight on my mare's shoulder, she takes 6'6'' in all her other rugs but ordered a rhino medium turnout over internet and ended up sending it back. It looked like it fitted her at first but once she started moving her shoulder it slipped forward and came up short over her rump. Her old rhino (a few years old ) same size fitted her fine. I went for GFS in the end as has the shoulder darts and adjustable straps on the chest.

Depends how thick set your cob is, but the Rhino's are good. Wugs seem to be narrower around the neck though.
For a really big cob, the Amigo XL will fit, but for a normally big shouldered cob, I like Rhino's classic fit. With a lot of mane, they may keep warm enough without a neck.

the v-neck suits my cobby down the ground.. doesn't pull on his shoulders at all so would def get that neck pattern again (have a rhino mw turnout with it and rambo fly rug. BUT because it does sit forwards he could poss do with a size up in the turnout.

I did have to buy a separate neck (a size up off ebay ;) ) for him though as the 5'9 was not going to touch his neck!

My two show cobs, heavy and a lw but both are chunkas, both have horseware but I always go up a size, and they actually fit really well. One has the rambo wug, but it will be the same shape as the rhino. I don't use it much as prefer standard necks though, as when they are eating out in the field the wug always gets wet if its raining.

I would go for one of the amigo 1200d, you can get any of the bravo weights now with the loops for the liners to make any weight rug. Will be as tough as a rhino. The rambo 100gm turnout is fab, but amigo now do one that weight too. xx

Thanks for the replies guys. I'd prefer a standard neck anyway, just wondered about the fit on the wugs (and I prefer the v-system).

This is the guy in question:

I have a shires turnout for him and it's a horrible fit, comes down to his knees and is far too tight round his shoulders. His JHL one seems to fit okay (haven't used it yet), but I've always loved Rhinos! If he's in a 6ft at the mo, is it advisable to get him a 6'3?

Wow he's handsome :)
How big is he ? My mare is 14.2 and normally has a 6ft but this year Iv got her a 6 ft 3 (amigo not rhino) and seems to fit her alot better , she has broad shoulders and is more chunky than long but that extra size really helps.
Id probably go for 6 ft 3.
