I am having to undergo rhinoplasty to put right the damage done by three breaks (only one horsey :-) ) and was wondering if anyone else had gone through this, how long was it before you felt OK to muck out, turn out etc (generally day to day care). I'm not worried about how long before riding again but I never like leaving my two for others to do (I do have a great yard manager so it's not a problem, just that I love doing my own and in this shocking wet and muddy weather she already has a load to do).
Thank you

I felt fine pretty much right away, which was a nice surprise.

I found was that I leaked a little afterwards and had to keep a strip of gauze taped underneath my nose for around a week - not the most attractive look and rather annoying after the first day or two but it shouldn't affect you that much.

The only thing I can think of that might affect you doing chores is that you'll have to clean the blood etc from the inside to be able to breathe properly.

I had it done and I did take a day or two just to get back to normal as my face was pretty swollen around my eyes, bruising lasted longer & isn't pretty. Like Blood Magik said I had to keep gauze under my nose for a week due to leaking and had to clean the blood inside my nose. The hospital should give you a spray though that you put up your nose to clean it! Attractive!

The only thing I avoided doing was my hay nets due to the dust as I was told to try and avoid situations which may cause me to sneeze!

I've had two, plus 3 septoplastys.....long story! Pretty much all done differently as done over a 42 year period, last being about 8 years ago. Early ones involved having my nostrils packed out for about 10 days, but latter one was gauze at the end of my nose and a splint across the bridge (but no spray). I just kept the gauze clean. For a few days I found bending forward was uncomfortable...a bit like having sinusitis, but then I'd just try to keep my head up and look down. I did have to breath through my mouth for a while, and whilst there was significant bruising and swelling, the last operation wasn't as bad for swollen eyes as the first as the technique for doing rhinoplastys has come on a lot over the years.
