Rhodococcus - foal pneumonia

I'd very much doubt a link to the flu vaccine, rhodococcus being bacterial, influenza being viral.
It would be very rare at this time of the year though?

My foal got this at 6 months, vets said it sometimes lurks in the ground as is bacterial and no one really knows how it is truly picked up. Of the 3 horses I had at the time he was the only one to get it so possibly he was a bit low. He had at that point only had tetanus jabs.
He had anti bio injections and powders every 2 hours for 72 hours and was a very poorly pony, he had a very high temp and respirations and the prognosis was bleak, but the little chap pulled through:) I had at one point all the vets from the practice taking turns to visit him.
Good luck and fingers crossed your foal is not so ill.

No, but the typical age for onset of clinical signs of Rhodococcus pneumonia would be coincident with the usual time for starting the influenza primary course.Causation and correlation are different things!

Hi, just to confirm it isnt my foal that has rhodococcus, a foal has been travelled overseas and now has it or so the vendors have been told (not my pony) and am just trying to find some more info. Pony has been gone more than 2 months. PMs much appreciated.
