Have been dithering away and decided on a good old Rice to replace my lorry. Gleefully phoned up Rice to ask how to order one only to be told that due to the economic downturn, they have suspended production for the foreseeable future! Am gutted! They only built to order so there are no new ones available. They have said that if I bought a secondhand one they would recondition it for me so at least that's one thing

Anyway, I have been looking everywhere online and cannot find one, only pony trailers or ones that need ALOT of work. They must be good if no one sells them on! I'm after one that can take 2x17hh horses. I really like the Equipoise and the old Badminton but am after any large Rice.

Does anyone know of one for sale? Pm if you would prefer- I'd be hugely grateful if anyone does know of one. Thanks!

Fab- thanks very much. I looked on there and totally missed it!! Not sure about the tack pack though- looks like it might fall off ,

Yes it does :D :D

However having owned Rice trailers for many years before I bought my new Ifor. They are very solid and built to last so I dont think it will. Far better quality than Ifor but then they are much more expensive new.

If I had £2k I would buy that in a heartbeat, (based on the assumption it was mechanically/structurally sound)

Oh no! Please don't! I'm trying to work out how blinkin preloved works so I can email them!,

I just bought a similar but slightly older one for £950, nothing wrong with it, so be ready to bargain!

I hope I can! Do horses travel well in them? I've had a Bateson, an Ifor and an Equitrek. Loved the Bateson but thought it was too light. Ifor was a shed on wheels (sorry Ifor people!!) and the Equitrek started to fall apart after a year. Rice boxes just seem so solid and go on for years so I'm hoping one will work out for me.

I've just found a local one that's a bit tatty but sound. Do they clean up well? It's got a wooden floor though which does worry me a bit...

If you get a bargain trailer, you could always have the floor replaced with metal checkerplate for your piece of mind :)

Ooh never heard of that! Thanks for the tip- ill ask my local horse trailer place. Am now getting quite excited at the thought of doing one up instead :D

We got ours from ebay for £900 and really local :D. Tows well and pony travels well in it. Great condition and ready to use.

They certainly last. I have a Rice that was built in 1975 and it's so sturdy. I bought it for £500 a year or so ago and all it's needed is new lights for about £200.

I'm trying to find a Europa that is in good condition although I don't mind doi g some work on it. But I have a limited budget.

I paid £600 for my big c. 1970 Rice Farmer's Hunt trailer from my YO. It's the same size as an Ifor 505 and VERY sturdy, all it really needs is a lick of paint which I'll do in the summer. The floor is wood but is not rotten but I will probably save up and get it replaced with a metal floor one day although it's safe as it is now. when my YO said he was selling it, I snapped it up as like the OP, all the 2nd hand Rice ones I've seen for sale seem to have been left to rot in fields!!
