How would i show my coloured?

I'm on my iPhone here so can't see your profile but if it's the photo rhino posted then I'd say hog. He/she seems too chunky to be plaited. Echo about getting tweed, velvet hat etc. If you want to try windsor id be saving up for a show saddle.

he doesnt have the bone or physique to be hogged as a show cob as far as i'm concerned.

personally i dont realy like pulled tails- they do look very neat, but i'd rather see a realy well plaited tail any day. but that is just personal preference! (and im not as experienced at showing as many on here.)

saying that though- your boys tail looks rather too thick to manage a tight, neat plait (which could almost pass as pulled) so would probably be better off pulled.

agree that at the higher level of showing you should have a showing saddle, but at the very least you need to be in a tweed jacket, and navy showing hat with flesh coloured harness.
 
I'd disagree. I'd say he's bordering on middleweight. You need to measure the amount of bone he has beneath the knee.

Also you can't 'fit' them into a category just by feeding.

id certainly agree with showing him a s MW, he's not a native. Agree with the others. Show his mane neatly plaited, pull NEATLY ( my pet hate is messily pulled tails! :D)and trim his tail to about 2 inches below his hocks.

PLEASE dont hog his mane.

For showing you only use a stock with Navy when doing evening performance (might be a few other occasions at the really big shows like HOYS) and for that you replace the navy velvet with a top hat

Never wear black for showing
 
Here are a couple of pics. The first is a big county, The Great Yorkshire.

Second is an evening performance, not correct turnout really as the top hat is not tall enough, but it gives you some idea/ She is a hogged cob :D

Very nice! Seeing them pictures makes me think if i take my boys mane off it will make his neck look a lot bigger, as it is quite big.

Be careful looking at my pics, our girl isn't a true show cob, she is only 14.1. Because she is a coloured she can do the native/trad/cob pony classes.

And in real life she has a hell of a thick neck, those pics dont really do it justice.

Yes in the native/traditional/cob under 14.2.

Trouble with that is that you are up against some very very impressive hairy traditionals.

If we had gone the other way and shown her as a lightweight plaited she would have been up against some very fine bred show ponies.

We chose the cob route and judges either loved her or hated her, not much in between. But she did very well for us.

At that kind of level we didn't expect to win against he professionals
 
Yes, thats like my boy i go up against the very hairy ones or very fine ones, but i just going to bigger classes for experience etc :)
