Ridden Hunter - Help! :S

Ok, panic setting in. I hadn't realised, but the first of our local shows starts Easter weekend! Those who have seen my previous post know that I am NO WAY into showing, but promised my young horses breeder I show him at the local county show in June. Have put it off for two years, but I can't avoid it this year, as I'm a teacher, but the county show is in half term this season. I've got to get him out to as many local shows as I can before hand. Panic is, the rider at the county show is judging at this first local show, Easter Sunday, so I have to ride myself..... :S Info please!!!! Tack, turnout and what I need to do!!! Arrrgghh!!! And I was looking forward to a Sunday lunch! Thanks !!!!!

Best bet would be to ask the usual rider/judge. I presume that this person will not be judging the ridden hunters, or I'm afraid there will be lots of mutterings form other competitors.

I am no expert here but... Not sure what you horse *is* -looks like etc.

Horse:
Brown tack probably best.
Doubles are *preferred* Snaffles are fine for novice I think?
Hunter bridle ofc!
CLEAN TACK
A numnah the same colour as you saddle is permitted.
A martingale is permitted also.

You:
Creamy, or yellowish(i think) joddies.
Tweed jacket!
Boots shined up
Hat free of hay and horsey mess
A nice clean show shirt, a tie that compliment both your colours

Remember to plat up neatly- this is optional I think though!
And practice practice practice, watch some youtube videos of working hunter! See what they do how they do it

Thanks, no, my county rider is judging the workers. My boy is 6 year old, 17hh aprox IDxTB Bay. I might have to take a sedative! I'll be practicing a lot the week before with other horses riding by in the school - mine has a tendency to buck/silly in that situation. Will also be in front of all the little cherubs I teach! Although, I think they would be very sympathetic - I never 'big' myself up at school! The reverse actually! He's also lazy so will have to practice with spurs - never, ever had to use them before... but he seems to respond better to spurs than a tap with a crop. He's probably under weight for 'show weight' - on the normal scale, healthy - can only just feel ribs. He does have big cracks in hooves - pollyfiller???
