I'd like to do a Ridden Hunter class at a fairly large local show on my WB gelding for fun (I know, wrong type of horse) and I was planning on wearing beige jods, leather boots, white shirt with collar and grey herringbone jacket with blue velvet collar and navy blue hat but what colour tie should I wear. Or should I wear a normal show shirt with a stock and pin? Totally confused. Last time I wore a bluey grey tie my Dad owned but my mate said the colour was all wrong.

Don't wear a stock!

A tie is correct for hunter classes! I was always told that you should wear a red tie, as it is the colour of the rosette that you would like to win - but the best thing to do is use a tie which best matches your hacket.

Have a look at a professional photographers website for show - perhaps equinational - and look for what other people are wearing with a jacket like yours, that will show you what looks best.

shirt and tie always.

Not bright red for hunters however you could concider burgundy etc.

If you can borrow a green or brown tweed then even better!
