Normally Mally works alternate days, but because I have today off I decided to work her again today and give her tomorrow off instead. My little jockette friend isn't about much in the week, so I roped in (very un-horsey, and very sleepy after working a late shift) OH to be my ground person, and jumped on myself in the hope she had got the idea well enough for it not to matter I wasn't on the floor anymore...

Well what can I say except this little mare is amazing!! Truly, I don't care if she nevers takes me further than Intro because, to me, she is worth her weight in gold already :D

I trotted her round on the lunge a couple of times before jumping on, it was so windy my saddle flaps where flapping up over the top of my saddle, but did she bother - Nope! She trotted round quietly, had a wee hop skip but carried on.

So OH was called over, instructed not to let the lunge line go on the floor, stand in the middle, be ready to hold on tight etc etc. On I jumped (I can get on foot in the stirrup too!) straight into walk, and straight over the top of the block I use to get on :o No panic, just stepped over it and then bucked as if to say 'Hang on Mum, let me get me legs sorted!'
Lunge line and OH were not getting on, so I bit the bullet, unclipped her and off we went! Stayed on the circle with OH in the middle as if we were lunging, but she was a poppet :D

Had a walk, trot and did some halting on both reins, plus some steering to change the rein. She was a bit backwards and a bit gobby, but nothing I wouldn't expect. She needs to get out and see how exciting being a ridden pony is :D Plus I'm waiting for her new bit to arrive, so making do with a snaffle that I think is probably putting some pressure on her tongue and making her gobby. She still has her wolf teeth too, so if new bit doesn't sort the gobbiness, once she's done a couple of hacks she can have her wolf teeth out and a couple of weeks holidays.

Pics as promised....

She is sooooo comfortable, I feel like there is loads of horse around me (despite what it might look like :D) My boss stood next to her yesterday and her head wasn't even level with her withers, so she is much bigger than I make her look - Honest! :D

Supposed to be having a lie in on my day off, promised OH if he got up we'd go back to sleep for a bit, but I'm sky high after this morning :D :o :D
Apologies for waffling on, OH has gone back to bed, so I can't bore him with countless replays of the five minutes I spent riding my pony :o :D

I wanted a Turquiose-y one, but after I saw that one at VV, I needed to have it! :D She is definitely bringing my girly side out - I have a blingy browband too :o
I spend ages brushing her, she's like the My Little Ponies I had when I was little, there to brush and dress up! :o Good job she adores being fiddled with, even mane pulling sends her all dozy and cuddley!

I did originally want something bigger than Hen (16.3/17hh) because I'm so tall, but then I thought long and hard about the issues we had with him, and nearly all were because of his size and conformation.
So I went for a dinky pony :D Although she must be 16.2hh by now and even as a weak baby has a huge chest, so I think there will be plenty of horse there!
I don't feel big on her anyway!

She looks great - clever girl to be not bothered by the wind. Really like the saddlepad too, but poss a bit too girly for the Cruisemeister!

He had some youthful moments at the rally yesterday but we too are in new ned heaven and love him to bits :D

Bless him :D Hen would have been subjected to that pinkness had it been about when he was in work! He had an entire travelling set in Raspberry (which was very hot pink rather than the red I expected!), when we arrived at Uni everyone commented my nice coloured mare :D :D

Leg_end - Sweet is not the word for her, she really is like a big puppy :D Very chilled about everything, my Boss was calling me crackers for getting on her today, given the wind! And normally I wouldn't have bothered (I tried my hardest to get out of riding the babies at work on Friday!) but she is just such a dude! :D

That's what I'm thinking too Thistle. She's very very slightly bum high and has no withers at all, so I think she's got a bit to go up yet and plenty to go out :D

I can't see myself as advertising her with the reason being 'grew too big for current rider' though :D :D

She looks FAB! You must be so proud of her :D

How tall are you?! Unless you are 6'6" I cannot see how a 16.2hh can possibly be too small for you ;) You look great on her anyway!

Looks like a smarty inside and outside :)

I am having a moment of weakness... Tell me what colour your Anky pad is, I have a sudden surge of envy and acquisitiveness in equal measure...

It's Sangria, would look smashing on Kallie!
I found one at Buckeroo Equine, Vale View EC, but didn't buy it, regretted it and then spent ages searching on-line to find one!
I have to say they are beautiful pads, whether you want to go crazy and bright or just stick with dark 'normal' colours! I think my old tatty saddlepads will be donated to the riding school and I'll buy and few more in everyday colours.

She is gorgeous! And going to be a lovely solid powerhouse by her build!

You don't look big on her at all, and the WFP look is SO in ;)

Oh and I'm sure you've been warned but it the 3 or 4th time or week that you get on that you can expect trouble.... :)

Well today was officially the 6th time she's been ridden and about the 2nd week since I first rode her, and so far we've had one pathetic buck, so I guess she's saving it for next week! :D

She puts zero effort into moving and she fairly covers the ground, so I can't wait until she's stronger, she's going to eat up cross country courses :D :D

Ewww, she looks awful ;), she's a dreadful colour :p, has an terrible attitude  and I think it's only fair that I offer to swap you for something similar looking but much more suitable to a leggy person with stickability. :D

Hmmm, it's been a very long time since my stickability was tested!! First year at Uni is a long time ago now, I've only had Mr Reliable Hen since then :D

Shall I package her up with the Anky pad too?? Maybe see if I can get some matchy matchy banages before I send her up to you?? ;) :p
