I feel like a right idiot asking this, but, I honestly have never thought about it nor can find anything out regarding it either.

For County level Ridden Show Hunter classes [ie, LW, MW and HW classes...not ponies nor intermediates]....what is the minimum rider age for it?

Wine Spritzers and cheese straws available for anyone who can tell me! :D Thanks!

The SHB Sports Horse Breeding site will have the rules.
They are the organisation that is in charge of Ridden Hunter classes.
I am not sure what age limit there is.

Yeah I've looked on there, but can't seem to find anything specific to rider age....I'm probably just being blind.

I would take it as a presumption that as your on horses riders will be over 16 so unlikly such a rule exisits.

heres the full rules.

there a rule about hats which to me suggests no age limits..

44. COUNTY SHOWS
a) It is strongly recommended that competitors aged 18 or over wear skull caps or hats in
accordance with the current approved BSI or European Standard, in order to minimise risk of
head injury. It is mandatory for competitors under the age of 18 to wear such skull caps or hats.

Hmm I have no idea...I've never really thought about it as normally been older riders as a general.

Going from National Hunter show at Addington, on there is said:

'Horses must be registered with the Association and all
owners, exhibitors and riders must be Association Members Riders must be 15 years of age or older.'

So guessing 15+ for general also?

tbh as a lot of the hunter classes go on what weight a horse could carry your unlikley to get a 13 yr kid on even a lw hunter .. unless it was a total heffer:D

may be drop them an email and just double check?

Will do :) Thanks for reply!

It's for friends daughter who is 15 next season, but extremely tall for her age, she's taller than me at 5ft9 already! Already rides the hunters and has one of her own, but wasn't sure regarding showing him for rules.

If she is that tall all ready, looks old enough and is more than capable of riding her horse I would say bash on anyway. Riders ages are taken as of the 1st of January. Just don't let her do show pony classes to show her true age lol!

Lol she is exceptionally mature looking for her age....everyone always presumes she's in college which is unnerving for her mother I'm sure lol. She's 15 in summer I think?

No show ponies present as too tall for them so no worries of that! :p

It's definitely 15 for Hack, Riding Horses and Cobs. I would think that SHGB would be the same rules - why not ring them?
