I wondered if any of you showing buffs could help me.

I am taking my boy to a show tomorrow and for the first time i am doing the Ridden turnout, i don't normally ride him out as he was quite naughty but he's so much better now i thought i'd give the last show of the year a go at ridden.

I have my in hand bridle with a lovely decorative browband on it, I also have a flat cavesson which i know i need for the showing, but should i put the nice browband on the bridle or keep it plain?

Thanks!

Useful looking type. The bridle you have on him will be fine. I can't see what the bit is, but if it is a pelham it is not fitted properly. Cut two foot off his tail. Plait him. Discreet saddle cloth the same colour as the saddle.

Hi, Thankyou for the advise. Why would you say the pelham is not fitted properly? Thanks

Pelham looks to small and is pressing into the side of his mouth, it could just be the photo of course. Nice horse.

The horse is stood still and not on bridle or uphill in the halt, the curb rein is tighter than the bradoon, the shank of whatever bit it is, is on an angle and appears to be turning outwards.

Lovely Heavy type - Ridden Turnout - PLain bridle like you have - I'd hazard a guess the pelham could be a jointed one? Cut tail level with the ergots at the base of his hocks and plait him up. Love greys! :D
