Okay so here's the dilemma. I started feeding my new horse on just a very basic mix and high fi lite. This was purely to see how she reacted to the feed. She seems a little jumpy still although she has now settled in properly and i put this down to the amount of feed im having to give her to hold her weight. I like the look of ride and relax but am worried it may not be quite enough to keep weight on and i'll end up giving her a bucket full a night! She i having a general supplement so would I be better off putting her on calm and condition and just giving her a little bit less of it? Sorry if I've rambled!!

I've had my tb on ride and relax for a while now. Previously at the end of the summer/beginning of the autumn I had him on calm & condition and this kept the weight on him really well. If it's weight and condition you are looking for then I would use c&c for now and maybe r&r in the spring when the grass is coming through?

That's exactly what I was thinking :) Thankyou! x

The A&P rep told me a long time ago that many people will use R&R in summer, and C&C in winter. If you find this isn't enough, C&C in summer, P&P in winter, if too much, Fast Fibre in summer, and R&R in winter! Or ring the helpline (I'm not employed by A&P, BTW!)

Calm and condition:
Oil: 5.5%
Protein: 12.0%
Fibre: 11.5%
Estimated DE: 12.5MJ/kg
Starch: 19.0%
Calcium: 1.1%
Vitamin A: 11,000 IU/kg
Vitamin D: 1,60 IU/kg
Vitamin E: 130 IU

Ride and Relax
Oil: 4.0%
Protein: 9.5%
Fibre: 22.0%
Estimated DE: 9.5 MJ/kg
Starch: 15.0%
Calcium: 1.1%
Vitamin A: 10,000 IU/kg
Vitamin D: 1,500 IU/kg
Vitamin E: 80 IU/kg

Funnily enough, my horse went loopy on ride and relax but is fine on calm and condition. The C&C is better for topline and weight gain then R&R. Your best bet is to ring them up and speak to their nutritionest who can guide you
