I have just purchased a Husqvana Ride on Lawn Mower. Can i top my rested fields with this ok? How long do you have to wait once you have cut the fields - before you can put horses on them again?

Does anyone use a lawn mower regularly on their horses fields? Does it help with the thickness of the grass?

We have a paddock we just use for winter and pretty much wreck it, then its rested from end March to October we mow it with our sit on once a fortnight its recovers immaculatley at the moment it looks as good as a lawn, the grass recovers and thickens up.
You can top horse fields with a sit on mower but they are certainly not designed to mow grass a foot high it will just chew and clog up.
Ours has a mulching deck so no need to collect grass cuttings and cuttings are disperesed back into the grass so therefore self fertilisers it.

We have one, originally for the garden, but use it on a couple of the small paddocks. You can adjust the height of the blades so it's quite useful.
You need to wait until the topped grass has burnt off and dried before you can re-graze.
