Someone local has offered to sell us a ride on lawnmower to keep our field mown (this is for sheep who cant keep up with the grass - the ponies have moved on to the summer field vacated by the sheep)

Im wondering if it would be useful for other things like towing a small trailer with hay or feed - im guessing they arent man enough to collect poo? (she says hopefully but really knowing the answer...)

Field is reasonably flat without too many lumps and bumps.

Does anyone have one and find it useful for anything other than mowing? We can rent secure storage locally which was my biggest worry

i have one and use it to top the long patches, you do have to keep on top of the length though as they dont like to mow too long a grass and get clogged quickly. i also manage to tow a set of 4ft chain harrows and collect the poo in a small trailer - only thing is they dont have good tyres for wet ground and if it gets wet it gets stuck in the mud :( however its great in the dry and saves a lot of pushing the wheelbarrow about. i didnt pay for mine though it was my dads for the garden. need to look into getting better tyres for mine to see if that helps :)

Yes we have one, could not keep up with grass otherwise. We do use it in paddock to keep the grass short, we also use it to pull a small traior when emptying the muck heap, it can sweep up autumn leaves in the field if the grass is not too long as well.

We have one...it doesnt pick up poo lol...we do have a trailer we tow on it. We have a countax and it likes to get dug into the mud, encountered at gates. It is used to pull big bales too. They are useful work horses and id buy one again (countax are good, despite me slagging off the mud issue).x
