I really thought this year would be our year ..... :-(

Last year I had an accident in Jan , broke my humerus in several places and did not get the go ahead to ride again until mid Jan this year ... started getting Chaplin fit .. just getting to the point where we could start thinking of lessons / competing and he gets an inflammed bladder - vets thought at first it was a stone, but luckily was not ... 6 weeks later (several nice vets bills) , we can get started again ... just getting to the same point again ... and now he is lame :-(

Diagnosis is PSD in both front legs .. LF showing a little damage on scan , RF almost nothing, but when LF blocked on a High Susp. block, he went lame on the RF , so although the scan looks ok, he has something going on in the PSD on that leg too.
since last year when he was being ridden by someone else I had a niggle in my mind that he did not always look completely sound but no one could find anything and was told it was simply 'takt fehler' .. (been in Germany so long , not sure the best translation for that .. not in rhythm ? ) ... when I brought him back into work , I took him to our local vet clinic to get them to give him the once over as I had worked him in the round pen a few times and was also not 100% sure he was level ... they spent ages going over him , could not find anything, first of all thought he was not right on the LF ... then worked further and said again , no.. he has a 'takt fehler RH.. .. just said to get on with getting him fit ... when he had the bladder issues I did wonder if this was contributing to what I was seeing .. but was no better when that cleared up ....

A part of me is quite relieved that finally we have something to work with , I am convinced that this is what I have been seeing for a long time ... would this make any sense ?? is it possible that this has been brewing for sooo long ?? -

now I am kicking myself that I did not push harder at the Vet clinic, but I suppose if it was not obvious enough, then they could not do blocks etc...

Oh no, what a rubbish time you have had.

What treatment have they recommended? I hope you have had your three pieces of bad luck, and can now concentrate on getting you both back to full fitness.

LJR .. box rest for 4 - 6 weeks , currently on walking in hand for 20 mins a day (today will be 7th day box rest) .. he gets his first lot of shock wave tonight and should get at least one more session next week , then they will reassess at the 3 week mark

vet seems to be optimistic that we should get sorted with no problems .. I am just a little worried that if this has been brewing for such a long time it might not be so easy ? ...
