Reckon that my lack of CV fitness is the limiting factor at the moment, in my partnership with the beast. I am going to take up skipping (works for boxers, though might look a bit silly!) and also do more canter work in the school, rather than just hacking all the time at a walk because the ground is so hard.

What do you guys do to keep fit?

I ride plenty, but probably whatever I'm doing isn't quite enough to raise my heart rate...

So just wondering what can be fitted in easily between work and horses (which take up plenty of time!)

IMO Rider fitness is completely overlooked and upping your fitness will really help ur riding-

For me to be able to ride XC at the best of my ability for the entire course means I have to be able to run 5Km with relative ease and I do a weights circuit with free weights in my house too, this saves on the time (driving to and from, waiting for machines etc) and money of a gym membership. I have also upped the amount of schooling and canter work I do - in particular in cross country position and then cantering stretches of the fields in SJ canter too. I can canter on the tracks - up here in scotland lots of rain! :)

I ride quite a lot, but also dog walk...that's about it!
I've lost a lot of fitness due to an abundance of takeaways during the first year of uni and Kelly being out of action for 5 months now - but I'm borrowing my YO's (also slightly unfit!) ID mare and we're schooling twice a week to increase our fitness (and my jumping confidence!)
So hopefully it won't be too long before we're back upto speed!
