Can anyone recommend a company offering rider only insurance?
I ride a few horses for friends, and I have only just realised that I have no insurance for myself if anything were to happen. I'm going to riding club camp in April with my share horse, so I could really do with being insured in case the worst happens!

I would join the BHS and do it that way. Part of your subscription helps support the sport and you get good liability insurance whilst you're there. Alternatively stoneways sell rider only.

im with bhs

bhs or riding club membership gives you 3rd party cover. sounds like your looking for a more specific personal injury cover that will pay out for injuries and loss of earnings?! in which case you have given me a kick up the bum and reminded me i really need to consider this! ive got 3rd party with bhs and r.c but im sure this is 3rd party only? i best check

That's what I'm on about, obviously with the riding club (which is a BRC club) I am insured for third party for RC activities, and Berlin is also covered third party as part of his policy. I want something more specifically for me as a groom and a rider, so if I get kicked in the teeth I can feel better about having to pay for a dentist!!

NFU do rider insurance with or without horse.

I claimed on my rider insurance with NFU when I broke my leg this time last year- they paid out very quickly without fuss.

For PL cover you should be covered under the insurance of the horse owner (providing they have it) if you are not paying or being paid to ride their horses.

However, if you are wanting a Personal Injury/Accident and Liability insurance I think as mentioned South Essex (SEIB), NFU of Petplan may be the best bet for rider related cover.
