poor rider died last sunday out hunting on her pony.

Not sure of her name but my friend's friend knew the girl and my other friend was going to go hunting on that day but didn't because it was snowing and the pony she was going to bring has very thin legs as he isn't a hunting pony.

I think the horse trampled on her and she screamed out "someone hold my hand please!" :(

Makes me want to cry everytime :(
Her funeral was yesterday.

Everyone, Please think twice before you go out riding in snow. Even if its just for a little trot.

The Girl's other pony died last week after getting hit by a car.

Think of how much pain her family were in and keep her in your taughts.
Be carefull everyone. Please :(

R.I.P:(

It's a terrible thing to have happened, very sad but as far as I am aware she wasn't trampled by any horse it was just the way she landed. She was wearing her hat and back protector.

Desperately sad thing to have happened.

This was a real tradegy and one that any horse rider enthusiast or follower would never want to happen. But I'm afraid I must right some wrongs that have been put out by media, gossip and hearsay.

No our weather was fine, foggy as the evenin set in but the going was soft to say the least, we had a few fallers who came home safe allbeit covered in mud to be honest. As I said in the post the media are just ridiculous in the complete bulls***e stories they have been allowed to print, even at the funeral yesterday there were press cameras, cant they leave well enough alone.

Unfortunatly the girl had had a fall the day before in her gallops and had been unconscious for a while, people do not know if this ment there might have been something there when she fell with us. It was a low wall about 2foot with a timber log on it, horse stumbled over it & she got thrown, horse did not fall on her nor crush her, he did not slip, she was wearing a back protector & helmet, a seriously tragic accident that has so much been over dramatised and reported wrong.eras, cant they leave well enough alone.

Yes a horse she was leading got hit by a car almost 3weeks ago, about the only correct part of this thread.

All thoughts are with the family & friends of this poor young angel who died doing what she loved. RIP.

Thank you for your clarification. Interesting she had fallen and been unconscious the day before - had she been eventing, she would then have been banned from competing for a period of time. If your post is able to highlight this particular danger then maybe something positive will come from it.

My thoughts to her family and friends. Awful for all and nothing can be said to ease or justify it - and the press should have shown respect and stayed away. Under these circumstances they are literally behaving like vultures.

No she wasn't competing the day before, just riding out at her family home.

This is tragic and thoughts go to the family.

However I wish people wouldn't post inaccurate hearsay of this sort - thanks to RedGG for coming on and giving an accurate account.

You missed my point. HAD she been competing with British Eventing, the fall that had rendered her unconscious would have meant an automatic ban on competing for a period of time (determind by the docter). Therefore this means that somewhere along the line, medical advice would be to NOT ride for a period of time if you had been knocked unconscious. Its not something most people would particularly think off but at least this post might make people think (it did me)

Yes I did miss your point but there are a lot of if's in this situation.......so it was just a tragic accident. Could happen to anyone.

Thanks to RedGG for clarifying all the details.

So tragic, deepest sympathy to the family.

Lets not go down the road of rules and regs so beloved of the 'competitors' amongst us. Hunting is NOT competitive, it is not a sport with rules and penalties and red cards etc. you take part in it of your own choice, as an independent individual.

Kipling, I think, said more about life than most:

'Here is a horse to tame
Here is a gun to handle
You may enter the game
If you'll only pay for the same
And the price of the game is a candle
A single flickering candle.'
