I've just about given up on getting a physio appointment with the NHS, so I'm thinking that, if I have to go private, I might as well go to someone who'll tell me how this might have been affecting my riding. Any recommendations for someone in London or the surrounding counties? Need someone who's knowledgeable about musculoskeletal issues and a certified physio, not just someone who knows about rider biomechanics, and ideally a woman.

It depends what you need but Rider Reboot and the guy that runs it goes way way beyond biomechanics and has worked in all sports, not hands on treatment but he will refer if he thinks that's what you need. For me he's my first option rather than a bodyworker, unless it's a really really good personal recommendation, and even then....

He made an enormous difference to me in one session. I also travel a very very long way to see an osteo who rides. I've seen a lot of therapists and he's genuinely gifted

I've just done my third "neuromechanics" and saddle fitting for the rider demo to biomechanics trainers alongside him and he just has the most phenomenal skill set. The biomex trainers are booking in clinics with him for their customers left right and centre!

Have you considered a chiropractor? Even if your back is not in pain. I went to a rider physio, physio physio and both said the same thing and gave me some stretches that did nothing. I then went to a chiropractor (no back pain, just wonky) and the difference has been unreal. I don't even remember what is my horses "bad" side any more. The chiro was also a horse rider, and said soo many horse riders have come to him saying the exact same thing "my horse has a bad side and throws me this way so horse and human physio said i need to do this but nothing happened"

Its expensive, but i spent a lot of money buying myself a sound sane horse, so i should be willing to spend more to make him comfortable riding by fixing myself.

I’ve considered it, but I’ve got a whole assortment of sharp pains atm and I’m very worried about becoming the next chiropractic horror story. I’d love to see a chiro one day, but it’ll probably have to wait until I’m not as protective of my back.

What exactly is Rider Reboot? I’ve had a look, and it looks like it has some good content, but how personalised would it be?

If you can find a private practice that is registered for NHS work you can self refer for 6 sessions on the NHS. Mine does.
