Rider Pilates - Free January!

I did sign up and have just watched day 1 and 2’s videos except for the riding one.

Is she always this ‘wordy’? So far, what she talked about in 50 minutes could have easily been condensed into 15 minutes (in my opinion). There was a LOT of repetition and waffle. Those of you who have done her courses before, does it change?
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this!

I have a very short attention span so I must admit to forwarding the videos on occasionally.

Did find the grease patterns on boots interesting and it confirmed a problem with my right leg. Interesting that the problem originates in the pelvis. Looking forward to exercises to mitigate this.

I found it waffling and could be condensed too and my first thought was this is going to be crap. Sticking with it I think I'll really enjoy it but that first video nearly put me off.

The grease marks on my chaps and my right knee slightly forward shows what I know - collapsed left hip and sitting more on my right seat bone due to something in my pelvis area. Hopefully this course will pinpoint it and help me out.

I’ve no idea how this course will pan out as it’s obviously not a‘traditional’ format like her normal courses but i had a super tight right hip and this course has really helped switch off the overactive muscles and switch on the lazy ones

Anyone found their corners? I did some fast forwarding too! She’s nice but I could do with some more direct instruction.

I'm struggling to maintain interest as I know what my issues are having worked with a physio for a while. My horse is also on schooling bootcamp at the moment and thought it would be more helpful as an off the horses exercise so looking forward to some more movement!

Anyone still doing this? The ‘proper’ exercises started this week - didn’t start well for me as I couldn’t do either of the first two exercises. I do regular Pilates classes and activate your seat bungi exercises so it’s not that I’m very unfit and inflexible 🤷‍♀️. And she’s still so wordy that I have to admit it’s putting me off …

Yes I’ve started the first three videos.
I couldn’t do the ones in video 1 either but finding 2 & 3 much more useful and familiar.
She’s very wordy though. I gave up with the taster videos or whatever they’re called. I like people to get to the point not waffle on even if I should know the why.

I've stuck with it and found the first day's exercises hugely useful (although my legs were sore for a couple of days - shows I needed it!) She does talk a lot, and just before the day 1 exercises said it didn't matter if we'd done the earlier videos! And none of the exercises seem to refer back to what we found from all the "tests", so I'm not sure what they were for, other than to prove we're wonky, which we knew anyway...... But I am finding the exercise part really good. I do normal Pilates and can relate a couple of exercises to ones I do in my classes.

I hate to say it, but I started the thread and haven't logged on at all. I've had a wearisome January with non horse stuff (grief of the loss of my husband raised it's head). I read this thread a few times to try to activate myself to get going, but the wordiness you spoke about out me off as I have a short attention span at the moment.

I've stuck with it, fast forwarded through a lot of the talky bits, I've not ridden for a few years but hoping I can get back to it so I was interested to see which bits of me need working on (answer - all of them!) Day 1 of the exercises had a couple of tricky moments, absolutely could not do the pretzel 🤣 but could feel muscles working that I haven't used for a long time, day 2 was nice, day 3 I struggled with and gave up part way through. I probably won't sign up for the full course, but can use some of the exercises from these 5 days and incorporate them into my yoga.

I agree. Finally, some actual exercises on the '5-day challenge' part! I can now see why anyone would recommend this.

I have only done Day 1 exercises as I got behind with the other videos, and was trying to catch up just in case. Pretzel fine for me.

I've got to video 21 and am going to give up on those now, as I don't think it will change. There áre useful nuggets in there, but mainly they are busy proving/telling you that you're wonky and this is what I knew already. If this was a new formula then I would say it is more likely to put off new customers than gain any. She seems very nice and the style may suit some, but far too waffly and repetitive for me. These are hours of my life that I won't get back. Red, you owe me a large (virtual) G&T for recommending it and then not checking ;P

I have them all sat in my inbox. Deleted a load as I want exercises not waffle. But haven’t gone back to it and have hit the gym instead. Might delete them all.

No, go to the thing called 5-day challenge (on day 4 now) - they are exercises. That said I've only got to day 1, as I got behind due to the previous sea of waffle.

ETA don't bother with the Welcome video (20 mins). Pretty much all of that is repeated in the first 5 mins of the Day 1 video, after which actual exercises start.

Ok, having listened to a couple of her videos for the no spend January, i can see where you’re all coming from with her ‘wordiness’. i did the 5 day challenge over a year ago and could not get anywhere near the pretzel, now i can do it fully unsupported. Her courses are less wordy and full of useful stretches and exercises, i have noticed a huge difference in my posture both on and off the horse. I do recommend her actual courses 😊

I really rate Pilates as excellent exercise for riders and health in general. Something that can be done with minimum stuff (I have just a mat and some hand held weights) and very easy to start at a low level of experience and then increase the intensity with small changes to the same exercises. I used to go to group classes, but have now built my own repertoire, focussing on core strength and legs, and just do 3 to 4 sessions each week in a space in the house. Love it :-)

I listened to the videos while cooking tea or doing other things when there was a lot of talking and concentrated on the ones where you had to do something for a reason otherwise I would have just switched off. I have done the 5 day challenge before and really enjoyed it and also signed up for several courses but I’ve had a poorly dog since Saturday and just haven’t managed to get started again so it is my task this afternoon once lunch has gone down. When I get going I do like doing them and although I don’t ride any longer I want to stay as supple and aligned as possible.

I'm up to date and finding the actual exercises useful and they to be targeting muscles of mine that work. I do have to have to replay quite a bit as I'm not always comprehending what bit of me goes where. Like many of you I found the first days too waffly but I did find some useful information. I do think the videos should be up for longer, fitting a session in everyday when you are working and looking after horses in winter is hard. I think I might try the courses

I’ve started the five day course with the exercises and finding them helpful already. Perhaps listen to the first ones whilst doing something else?
